YR Media Brings SMS Donations To UN Urban Poverty Campaign

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

Mobile marketing specialist YR Media today announced it is to provide a mobile phone donation service for a major UN campaign backed by the biggest names on the urban music scene.

The Black Eyed Peas, Ms Dynamite and Roni Size are involved in the project as well as many of the leading names on the UK urban dance scene.

YR Media will be providing the backbone for an SMS donation and mobile marketing effort allowing music fans to donate while attending UK concerts planned later this month (April).

The UN campaign will include 141 music events worldwide culminating in the World Urban Forum, due to take place in Barcelona in September. Under the banner, ‘Messengers of Truth’, the leading music acts will aim to highlight the problems faced by 1 billion people living in city slums across the globe.

The Bristol based mobile phone marketing specialists will also be providing support for the UK efforts with direct and SMS marketing campaign.

Seth Jackson, marketing director at YR Media, commented: “Many of the biggest names in urban music are coming together in this project – and getting the message across to young people in a relevant way.

“Bearing in mind most UK urban music fans are pretty much addicted to text messaging, this is a logical and credible way to get them involved and allow each fan to make a difference.”

The gigs will take place at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire on April 30th and Bristol Academy on May 2nd.

YR - Connecting People @ Midem 2004

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004

When it comes to connecting people, YR could show Nokia a thing or two! YR’s Contact:Point system at the British@Midem stand had people queuing around the block and smoothed the process of many a blind date.

The purpose built contact system, which allowed visitors to view photos of the B@M delegates and send them SMS text messages and emails, went down a storm and remained in constant use over the 4 days of Midem. Anyone interested in learning more about Contact:Point should email seth@yrmedia.com. (not forgetting the top design by our friends at CLINIC).
