This week sees KarmaDownload entering into the mobile content market, with a joint venture with YR Media, which will see the launch of KarmaDownload mobile. The new service will give all labels, both established and small and unsigned acts affordable access to create trutones.
This will effectively produce a level playing field with the larger record companies with more buying power. The new service will provide a one-stop shop for consumers to log on to the KarmaDownload site and not just buy music, but trutones, pictures and video clips, with a crossover into each acts’ own website. For most independent labels and smaller/unsigned acts the cost of this has been previously prohibitive.
KarmaDownload mobile will launches November 2nd with a special Franz Ferdinand package featuring exclusive content lisenced from Domino Recordings.
YR media will provide the backend Mobile capabilities for Karmadownload.
The two companies will develop and grow together in this joint venture and will be launching a raft of exclusive mobile content in 2005 from which labels can benefit, including video, live event backstage footage and a host of additional unique services to compliment the karma ‘experience’. www.karmadownload.com
