This week’s pick is ‘Reach’ by Terry Farley & Chris Bangs (Spirit of the Boogie) to be released next month on Distraekt Records.
Terry Farley needs no introduction to House afficionados due to his work in the 90’s as part of the Boys Own/Junior crew. This track features the vocals of Ann Saunderson (of Kevin Saunderson fame) and is real simple, groovey slice of House music. I guess it would be classified as ‘funky house’( I HATE that term! isn’t all House inherantly funky?).
This has all the right ingredients to capture the dancefloor masses and die-hard old house heads like me alike. A warm, fat bass groove and analogue-y organ drive the tune along, interspersed with sexy vocals, a ‘Stardust’ like guitar flick and sweeping synths. Class.
